Vega Darling

Vega Darling (he/him) is a documentary filmmaker, educator, archivist, and researcher exploring underrepresented histories, memory, and media’s role in social change. He holds an MFA in Social Documentation from UC Santa Cruz, and his films—including Lost Grrrls: Riot Grrrl in Los Angeles—have screened at festivals, conferences, and arts institutions worldwide.

Rooted in decades of grassroots organizing, Vega teaches film production, critical media studies, and socially engaged documentary. His work—both creative and pedagogical—is grounded in radical empathy, community-based storytelling, and a vision for a more just, inclusive cultural future. He centers participatory methods, accessibility, and ethics of care, focusing on the intersection of narrative, identity, and structural power.
